Aid Monitor
Aid Monitor seeks to improve the quality of foreign aid by making it more transparent, accountable and effective with results that can be objectively measured. Historically, foreign aid has operated in secrecy: outside of the scrutiny of media, unaccountable to taxpayers and often evaluated by departments embedded within the donor agencies, with millions to spend on public relations campaigns. This has led to many operational deficiencies and perverse incentives that can entrench corruption and further impoverish poor countries. Foreign aid reform can only be done through objective and independent analysis and advocacy, which require broad awareness on the exact impact of donations and soundness of policies that donor countries adhere to. Aid Monitor, in collaboration with experts, identifies specific donor policies that hinder development and advocates for reform through a network of affiliates.
1. Research: Identify the appropriate metrics by which to measure the impact of foreign aid and the policies that affect donor performance and compare these against donor's (Aid Effectiveness Indicators)
2. Network: Create a broad network of organizations and experts collaborating to publish articles that analyze results and provide recommendations on aid effectiveness by donor (Resources)
3. Influence: Provide a platform (aid effectiveness conferences) for industry experts and leaders from developing countries to raise awareness, spark informed debate, provide specific policy recommendations and increase demand for donors for improve performance and accountability (Stakeholders)
